World’s most pierced man turned back at Dubai airport.

World’s most pierced man
turned back at Dubai airport.

Awww, not nice. Guess there are some
disadvantages to being so weirdly pierced.

53year old German Rudolf Buchlolz, who
is the world’s most pierced man, was
barred from entering Dubai on Aug. 15th
and he took to twitter to share his
disappointment. Continue…
The Information Technology, IT, worker
who was recognized in 2012 by the
Guinness Book of Record as world’s most
pierced man with 435 piercings plus two
horns on his forehead, was billed to make
an appearance at a hotel in Dubai but on
arriving the Emirate airport, he was not
cleared by the immigration officers.
Instead he was immediately whisked into
an Istanbul flight en-route Germany.

A spokesman for the hotel where Buchholz
was scheduled to appear said its
management had failed “despite all its
attempts” to win permission for him to
enter the emirate
Airport officials gave no reason why he was
refused entry into the emirate. Rudolf who
vowed never to return to Dubai, left his
luggage behind in Dubai.

Anti virus, Trojan Horse

I came across this gem on the Visa website :

Trojan Horse virus
What’s a Trojan Horse virus?
A Trojan Horse is an email virus
usually released by an email
attachment. If opened, it will scour
your hard drive for any personal and
financial information such as your
social security, account, and PIN
numbers. Once it has collected your
info, it is sent to a thief’s database.

Now, there are Trojan Horses and there are
viruses, but there's no such thing as a Trojan
Horse virus. In fact, the very definition of
each precludes any chance of there being
such a thing. A Trojan does not replicate.
Viruses do. That fact alone means there can
never be a "Trojan Horse virus".
The Visa description continues with, "A
Trojan Horse is an email virus usually
released by an email attachment." Not so. A
Trojan may be sent as an attachment in
email, but it's certainly not an email virus.

(In fact there are few true email viruses, but
that's a whole other topic). So it may or may
not arrive in email, and it's equally likely to
have been downloaded from a website or
resulted from a P2P file transfer. In other
words, vector has nothing to do with whether
something is or isn't a Trojan.
Just what is a Trojan then? A Trojan is a
program that appears to be legitimate, but in
fact does something malicious. Quite often,
that something malicious involves gaining
remote, surreptitious access to a user's
system. Unlike viruses, a Trojan does not
replicate (i.e. infect other files), nor does it
make copies of itself as worms do.
There are several different types of Trojans.

Some of these include: remote access Trojans
(RATs), backdoor Trojans (backdoors), IRC
Trojans (IRCbots), and keylogging Trojans.
Many Trojan encompass multiple types. For
example, a Trojan may install both a
keylogger and a backdoor. IRC Trojans are
often combined with backdoors and RATs to
create collections of infected computers
known as botnets.

But one thing you probably won't find a
Trojan doing is scouring your hard drive for
personal details, as the Visa description
alleges. Contextually, that would be a bit of
a trick for a Trojan. Instead, this is where
the keylogging functionality most often
comes into play - capturing the user's
keystrokes as they type and sending the logs
to the attackers. Some of these keyloggers
can be pretty sophisticated, targeting only
certain websites (for example) and capturing
any keystrokes involved with that particular
session.

But why is it important to know the
difference between a virus, a worm, and a
Trojan? Because a virus infects legitimate
files, thus if antivirus software detects a
virus, that file should be cleaned . Conversely,
if antivirus software detects a worm or a
Trojan, there is no legitimate file involved
and action should be to delete the file.

The girls were taken from their school in the village of Chibok in April.

Mummies Unlocked By CT Scanners

Mummies Unlocked By CT Scanners

The British Museum uses medical
technology to reveal secrets of the ancient
Egyptians, including their high cholesterol
levels.

<p>Whether it is down to Hollywood blockbusters<br>
or Scooby Doo, our fascination with Egyptian<br>
mummies has lasted for more than 200 years.</p>
<p>Now the latest generation of CT scanners -<br>
normally used to check living patients - have<br>
been used by the British Museum, in London,<br>
to shed new light on one of its most popular<br>
collections.</p>
<p>The findings show we share rather more with<br>
the ancient Egyptians than you might expect,<br>
including high cholesterol levels and<br>
agonising toothache.</p>
<p>Eight of the museum's mummies have been<br>
virtually unwrapped - revealing secrets they<br>
took to the grave thousands of years ago.</p>
<p>An image illustrating how a mummy looks<br>
when being scanned<br>
Each long-dead individual was painstakingly<br>
transported to hospitals across the capital<br>
and placed - out of hours and late at night -<br>
inside the latest generation of CT scanners.</p>
<p>The unprecedented levels of resolution have<br>
shown some unexpected developments.<br>
They include the revelation that one of the<br>
mummies, found in a woman's coffin and<br>
believed for hundreds of years to be female,<br>
was in fact a man.</p>
<p>The first mummy entered the museum's<br>
collection in 1756, but for the past 200 years<br>
none of the mummies have been unwrapped<br>
because of the damage that would be done.</p>
<p>A mummy that lived between 3,500BC and<br>
700AD<br>
Now, cutting-edge visualisation techniques<br>
mean not only curators, but every visitor to<br>
the exhibition can peel away the wrappings<br>
and virtually explore what lies beneath.</p>

<p>All of the mummies chosen once lived in the<br>
Nile Valley, between 3,500BC and 700AD.<br>
The exhibition reveals more about how they<br>
lived and died and shows the embalming<br>
process did not always go to plan -<br>
particularly for one man from Thebes.<br>
Curator Daniel Antoine told Sky News: "Facial<br>
visualisation reveals a tool still stuck in his<br>
head.</p>
<p>"There had been an attempt to remove his<br>
brain but during it one of the tools used to<br>
go through the nose appears to have snapped<br>
and surprisingly that tool is still lodged inside<br>
him."<br>
Like all of the adult mummies, the same man<br>
was found to have advanced dental decay -<br>
with four separate abscesses in his mouth.</p>
<p>Another two individuals still have calcified<br>
plaque on their bones, suggesting they may<br>
have suffered from cardiovascular disease.<br>
Neil MacGregor, director of the British<br>
Museum, said: "This new technology is truly<br>
groundbreaking, allowing us to reconstruct<br>
and understand the lives of these eight very<br>
different individuals.</p>
<p>"This is a project which has only been made<br>
possible through recent technological<br>
advances."</p>

Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have not suffered serious injuries and should be fit for next Saturday's Champions League final against Atletico

MADRID: Real Madrid forwards Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema have not suffered serious injuries and should be fit for next Saturday's Champions League final against Atletico Madrid, coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

Alarm bells rang after Ronaldo, Real's top scorer, apparently hurt himself in the warm-up before Saturday's La Liga game at home to Espanyol but Ancelotti said it was nothing to be concerned about and the Portugal captain had merely been rested as a precaution.

Benzema limped out of the match with just over 20 minutes remaining with what Ancelotti described as a twinge in his adductor muscle.

"Cristiano wasn't comfortable in the warm-up and we decided not to take any risks," the Italian told a news conference.

"We are not worried because we think he can play the (Champions League) final," he added.

"Benzema had a twinge in the adductor and he shouldn't have any problem in playing the final."

Ancelotti said centre back Pepe, who has been suffering with a calf problem, was recovering well and the club were confident he could play against Atletico.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau wants to be Africa's Osama Bin Laden

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau wants to be Africa's Osama Bin Laden, and has ratcheted up his anti-American rhetoric in an effort to spread his influence globally, according to a more-nuanced profile of him developed since he orchestrated the kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls more than a month ago.

U.S. counterterrorism officials and terrorism experts say that Shekau, whose age is unknown and background mysterious, has developed a sophisticated media operation aimed at helping him achieve that goal. But they are divided on his ability to become an influential leader of militant Islam, with some calling him mentally unstable while others argue he is “crazy like a fox.”

Shekau’s best-known crime is the kidnapping of more than 300 Nigerian girls – 276 of whom remain missing --from a government-run secondary school in Chibok on April 14. But under his command, Boko Haram has become the most violent terrorist group in the world, carrying out a laundry list of atrocities in northeastern Nigeria.

Breaking News: Boko Haram Kills Several Studens Going To Wrrite JAMB

Breaking News: Boko Haram Kills Several
Studens Going To Wrrite JAMB

What is wrong with Boko Haram and their sponsors: why
are they making human life worthless?

As you read this, scores of students travelling to write
JAMB exam in Borno State have been reportedly killed by
the dreaded Boko Haram sect. They were among several
persons that lost their lives in multiple attacks that were
unleashed by the sect in four communities.

A senator from the area said: ”What happened in
Borno was beyond understanding. It is a must for me to
speak since the people lives are involved and they are
my people. All these are happening in my constituency
and it will be wrong to keep quiet. I feel so much
pained and would not have spoken but definitely my
conscience will not let me do that.”

The Senator who is representing Borno Central in the
Senate, Zannah Ahmed, on Friday accused the military of
complicity in the latest attack where he said that 210
people were killed in attacks on four towns.
The towns included Dikwa, Kala Balge, Gambulga and
Gwoza.

The senator claimed that the attackers were all dressed in
military uniforms and spoke English language. This was a
departure from the Hausa and Kanuri language spoken by
the Boko Haram insurgents.

He even lamented that authorities of the military post in
Gamboru, which purportedly received a distressed call from
the people of Kala Balge avoided the town, claiming that
it was not in its area of command.

But what is really going on? Is this Boko Haram or some
powerful people just trying to reduce population?

The Nigerian boy who tried to lobby himself to the queens palace

The man, who has identified himself as Tosin Odunaiya, a
23-year-old Nigerian who came to Britain illegally, said
he ‘presumed’ that the Royal Family would welcome him
into the palace.
But he was stopped at the gate before the guardsman’s
dramatic intervention, which caused his temper to flare.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘I wanted to speak with the
Queen and presumed the Royal Family would have
welcomed me as their lost son.
Odunaiya, who claims the soldier, a member of the
Coldstream Guards, ‘didn’t scare me’ said: ‘I was shouting
louder and louder when the Guard came over and started
shaking his gun at me.’
Passers-by reported how the would-be intruder said ‘Oh
you’re a big boy now’ to the soldier – thought to be
Scottish – who in turn replied ‘Yes I am a big boy’ before
pushing him.
Royal protection officers then ushered the man away,
though he was not arrested.
He told the newspaper that the incident on Friday was his
fifth attempt to get into the palace, and that before he
has
been so sure of being allowed in that he brought a
toothbrush with him.
Odunaiya claims that his past visits were made to lobby
the Queen over Syria, but that now he just wants help
going home to Nigeria – as he hates it in Britain.
It is unusual for soldiers to leave their post unless a Royal
is under threat, as the Metropolitan Police are responsible
for most issues related to guarding the palace.
But it is believed that the soldier who intervened has the
backing of his superiors.
The Metropolitan police said that they gave the man
‘words of advice’.
A spokesman said: ‘An incident occurred at the north
centre gate of Buckingham Palace at approximately
17.50hrs on Friday 4th April.
‘Officers from Royalty protection spoke to a male and he
was given words of advice. There were no arrests.’
Scotland Yard refused to elaborate on why the man was
not arrested.
A statement from the Army said: ‘We are aware of an
incident outside Buckingham Palace on Friday and while
no one came to any harm and there were no arrests, we
are very clear that the Metropolitan Police lead on Royal
Security arrangements including outside the Palace itself.

Panics at the Palace: How intruder after intruder has
scaled fences, stalked the gardens, been Tasered to the
floor… and even made it to the Queen’s bedroom
The armed confrontation is the latest security scare to
strike the palace, after a man was arrested in the grounds
last year, and another was shot with a Taser after holding
a knife to his own neck and shouting at passers-by.

Nigeria’s Economy Now The Biggest in Africa As GDP Soars To US$510 Billion, Beating South Africa’s US$353 Billion

Nigeria’s Economy Now The Biggest in Africa
As GDP Soars To US$510 Billion, Beating South
Africa’s US$353 Billion

Officials say Nigeria’s recalculated economy is worth $510
billion, by far the biggest in Africa and easily surpassing
that of previous continental titleholder, South Africa, at $
353 billion.

Figures announced Sunday are the first recount since
1990 of the GDP of Africa’s biggest oil producer but do
little for the 112 million Nigerians scrabbling to survive in
poverty.

The International Monetary Fund had used the 1990 base
to estimate Nigeria’s GDP in 2013 at $292 billion. But
that did not take into account new industries like
telecommunications, information technology, music,
airlines, burgeoning online retail outlets and Nollywood
film production that didn’t exist when the last GDP count
was made in 1990. Then, there were 300,000 landlines.

Today, Nigeria has 100 million cell phone users.

BRUSSELS—The top military commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization

BRUSSELS—The top military commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization said Wednesday that Russian forces could take large swath of Ukraine in three to five days.

U.S. Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove, the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe, also said in an interview that he will recommend a “reassurance package” to NATO representatives by April 15. The measures will be aimed at enhancing the alliance’s response to Russia’s newly aggressive approach.

NATO officials also provided more details of a break in cooperation with Russia, saying they would suspend a joint program to train counternarcotics workers from Afghanistan. They will also halt a project providing spare parts and training for Afghan helicopter technicians, an initiative Russian President Vladimir Putin had called for continuing just last month.

Gen. Breedlove, who has warned of the threat from some 40,000 Russia troops massed near Ukraine’s border, said that force includes support for planes and helicopters as well as military hospitals and electronic warfare equipment.

Gen. Breedlove said the Russian force is in a high state of readiness and could move at any time. It could accomplish a major incursion into eastern or southern Ukraine, he said.

“We think that it is ready to go, and we think it could accomplish its objectives in between three and five days, if it was directed to make the actions,” he said.

The Kremlin has said in recent days that it is pulling back troops from the border, but Gen. Breedlove said only a small force has shown movement. “We have zero indication that it is moving to the rear or returning to barracks,” he added. “We cannot confirm in any way, shape or form that it is moving off the battlefield area.”

NATO foreign ministers this week directed Gen. Breedlove to craft a response plan, which could include moving NATO equipment and troops into Eastern Europe, beefing up exercises, surveillance and patrols, and speeding up NATO’s rapid-response force.

The plan, Gen. Breedlove said, will aim to counter the Russian practice o holding “snap exercises,” in which large forces quickly prepare for action Russia’s Crimea incursion shows that such exercises can be transformed into military operations, the commander said.

The strategy will build on actions NATO and its members have already taken, from increasing air policing over the Baltics to beefing up surveillance flights in Romania and Poland to dispatching U.S. warships to the Black Sea.

The trickiest question may be whether NATO should move troops into Eastern Europe, where the alliance currently has few installations. Countries like Poland are pushing hard for such a shift, but it would almost certainly be seen as highly provocative by Moscow.

Fire destroy ogun state governor's office

A section of the office of Governor Ibikunle
Amosun at
Okemosan, Abeokuta, the Ogun State
capital,
southwest Nigeria, was gutted by fire
Monday.
The fire destroyed computers and other
office
equipment.
But for the timely intervention of the men of
the Fire
Service, the incident would have caused a
major havoc.
The incident, which occurred at about 12
noon affected
the old Protocol Officers’ office on the first
floor of the
Governor’s Office.
It caused panic among workers who started
shouting
and running away from their offices.
Fire service officials, our correspondent
gathered,
arrived at about 12.35pm and entered the
Governor’s
Office through the backyard before gaining
access to
the scene of the fire and succeded in putting
it out.
Shortly after, the governor and other
members of his
cabinet went to the scene to assess the
extent of
damage.
Smoke was still billowing during the visit of
the
governor, which made most of them cover
their noses to
avoid inhaling the smoke.
Addressing newsmen at the scene of the
incident, the
Ogun State Head of Service, Mrs. Modupe
Adekunle
said the fire outbreak was caused by power
surge from
the independent power plant which supplies
electricity
to the Governor’s Office complex.
According to her, “it was a power surge from
the air
conditioner. It (power) came suddenly. There
were
some officers in that Office, so when they
saw it, they
tried all means to put out the fire. The only
things
affected there were just some set of
computers.
“The cause of the fire might be from the
Independent
Power Supply or Public Power Supply since
we do not
have generator there. But we thank God that
the
damage was very minimal.”
Meanwhile, a statement by the office of the
State
Ministry of Information and Strategy, which
was signed
by the Commissioner, Alhaji Yussuph
Olaniyonu,
thanked God that no life was lost.
He reirteratd government’s desire to ensure
that such
incident does not happen again and advised
the staff to
prevent such in future.
The statement reads in part,”….The
governor has
ordered the Head of Service to ensure strict
compliance
with the schedule of monthly fire drills in all
offices of
various Ministries, Departments and
Agencies in the
state.
“The exercise, according to the governor, will
enable all
workers to familiarise themselves with the
use of the
fire extinguishers which the government had
purchased. It will also enable the workers
know how to
take appropriate preventive measures when
faced with
emergency situations.
“The governor noted that the fact that God
has been
kind to the state as it rarely experiences fire
incidents,
demanded that people should be vigilant and
constantly get ready to act positively in case
of
emergency.”

Dangote moves to 23rd richest man in the world

According to a Forbes magazine list released on Monday March 3rd, Nigerian
industrialist,
Aliko Dangote is the 23rd richest man in the
world.

Wow! He made history as the first black man
to
break into the rank of top 25 richest people
in the
world.

In 2012, he was the 76th richest man in the
world. He
moved from that to 43rd richest man in
2013 and
now to 23rd in 2014 with his wealth jumping
from $
16.1billion to $25billion.

The next Nigerian on the list is Glo chief
Mike
Adenuga, who is 325th richest person with
$4.6bn, Then Mrs Folorunsho Alakija in 687th
position with
a personal wealth of $2.5bn.

Former Microsoft chairman Bill Gates takes
back the
No.1 position as the richest man in the
world with $
76billion. Geez! If you lived ten life times,
you
probably won't be able to finish $76b.

Highest waterfall

Some world records aren’t pretty. Watching
someone
pull a truck via meat hooks in the back, for
example,
probably isn’t anyone’s idea of a beautiful
aesthetic.

But then there are some records that simply
take your
breath away, for all the right reasons.
One of those is the highest waterfall, held
by
Venezuela’s Angel Falls.
With a height of 979 m (3,212 ft), Angel
Falls defines
majesty. Its greatest single drop measures
807 m
(2,648 ft), with other rapids and cascades
combining
to form the remaining height.

Angel Falls is named after the American
aviator
Jimmie Angel. On November 18, 1933, he
became the
first person to fly over them, thus sharing
their
existence with the public and forever linking
himself
to one of Earth’s true natural wonders.

Located in the Guiana Highlands in the state
of
Bolívar, the falls sit deep in the Venezuelan
jungle
and to this day remain very difficult to
reach.

The
falls sit on the Churú River, which flows into
the
Caroní. They flow approximately 260 km
(160 miles)
southeast of Ciudad Bolívar, the 11th-largest
city in
Venezuela.

To put the majesty of Angel Falls into
perspective,
consider its height in relation to some of the
world’s
other famous waterfalls. Niagara Falls, on
the
Canadian-American border, measures a
height of 50
m (165 ft), nearly 20 times shorter. And
southern
Africa’s Victoria Falls drops “just” 108 m
(355 ft)
itself.

The region’s geography helped shape Angel
Falls and
the many other waterfalls around it.
Mountain-like
structures known as tepuis jut out from the
Venezuelan ground and help establish a
unique
environment for wonders like the falls to
exist.

Over the years, Angel Falls has gone by many
other
names. In Spanish, it’s known as Salto
Ángel. It has
also been called Salto Churú Merú. And an
indigenous name for the falls is Kerepakupai
Merú.

Regardless of what it’s called – just as a
rose by any
other name would smell as sweet – Angel
Falls by any
name, sight, or measure would inspire its
observers
no less.

"Who is president kidding?" -Boko haram

It has become a consistent feature in the
Nigerian
news media that every week, we are treated
to news
of human lives decimated by Boko Haram;
human
casualties in such numbers that would make
casualty
figures in war ravaged Syria a child’s play.

However,
much more consistent is the government’s
(or more
precisely the presidency’s) continual
insistence it is
winning the war on terror. The government’s
insistence is in spite of the many civilian
and/or
military casualties after each attack.
Earlier in the week, Boko Haram attacked
Borno,
leaving scores dead and with at least 20
young girls
as captives. The governor of the state ran to
the
presidency. After the meeting with the
president, he
told journalist he had made it clear to the
president
that Boko Haram is better equipped and
better
motivated than the Nigerian military. Dr.
Doyin
Okupe, President Jonathan’s aide on Public
Affairs
took exception to this and declared that
Governor
Shettima is wrong and that his statement “is
based
purely on a civilian perception of the
situation at
hand” adding that “It is clear that Governor
Shettima
does not have the expertise to categorise or
classify
the effectiveness of any weapon”. Less than
24 hours
after Okupe’s tough talk, Boko Haram struck
again
with a heavier casualty figure.
Is the FG really winning the war against
terror? To
determine success or failure, one needs a
measurable
property to serve as a basis for the
determination.
Okupe cited budgetary provisions,
participation in
other peace keeping operations, a subjective
statement that the Nigerian military is
better armed
in all of Africa, but he failed woefully to
give objective
evidence that would show us the FG is
indeed
winning. Defence may have taken over a
N1tr (22
percent) of 2013 budget but how was it
spent? The
military may have been successful in
international
operations but need we remind Okupe how
Nigerians
excel at the international arena only to
come and fail
at home? (It is the environment I guess). Is
the
Nigerian military really better armed in
Africa?
Wouldyou mind telling us who did the
comparative
analysis of the armament of militaries of
African
nations? As someone on the street, a small
man
without Dr. Okupe’s level of security
clearance to
eavesdrop on the jo-jo the military top brass
normally have with the president and their
Commander-in-Chief Dr.
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan
GCFR, I believe (as many would) the
following should
be the basis for judging whether FG is
winning the
war or not:

1. Is there a reduction in the frequency of
attacks by
Boko Haram?

2. Is there a reduction in the severity of
each of these
attacks when they occur? Note: I choose to
use ‘when’
deliberately.

3. Are (at least some of) the leaders and
commanders
of the group known, arrested, prosecuted,
convicted?

4. Does the military have intel on all or some
of the
masterminds and sponsors of the group? Do
we have
any of them in custody?

5. How many convictions do we have against
arrested
members of the group?
For the truly observant, the answers to all of
these five
or so questions are not palatable.

The
frequency of
attacks has reduced to a steady, almost
predictable
state. The severity on the other hand seems
to have
witnessed a steady rise and thereby
effectively
nullifies any gains of the reduction in
frequency. If
they used to attack 3 times a week with only
3 dead,
but now attacks once a week with 5 dead, is
the
reduction in frequency meaningful? Apart
from the
over all head, Mallam Shekau, who else is
known as
leader in the group?
Some may argue that info is
classified; how then do we help government
if we
don’t know who they are looking for? No
body talks of
the sponsors and as for convictions, I know
of only
Kabiru Sokoto. Looking at these and bearing
in mind
that Boko Haram has easily ran down a
military base,
took out 5 fighter jets (decommissioned or
not),
leveled an entire village without resistance
from the
military and coupled with the fact that every
claim by
the military of casualties on Boko Haram’s
side
almost always results in claims that the
casualties
were in fact unarmed civilians killed and
tagged Boko
Haram all tend to suggest Boko Haram may
be
having the upper hand; not necessarily by
design but
(following Gov Shettima’s thinking) the
unserious
and insincere attitude of the presidency.
For example, if the N1tr budgeted for
defence in 2013
was Dr. Okupe’s personal investment in a
company,
would he have accepted the performance of
the
military as satisfactory?
We know and appreciate this
is not a conventional warfare but if after six
months
and counting of emergency rule a lesser
armed and
motivated group (according to Okupe) will
operate
conveniently in a village for up to 2 or more
hours
without resistance from the authorities, then
something is wrong. I agree with Dr. Okupe,
our
military performs excellently when on
international
assignments, but what is happening here? It
is the
same people, the same kind of assignment;
it is the
operating environment that differs and that
environment is created by the presidency. If
I
remember well, by the fourth quarter of last
year, it
was revealed the defence third quarter
allocation was
still an expectation, that’s the environment.
Nigeria is a country of unknown definite
population
figure, but let’s assume it’s 170 million (as
many
believe), so 50 deaths may seem
infinitesimal. But
Okupe is said to be (should be or is
supposed to be) a
medical doctor as such he knows (or should
know)
that if a doctor operates several patients in
a day and
only one dies, an audit MUST be done to
know why
that patient died. While is it different with
the
victims of Boko Haram.
Why is the federal
government not asking the hard questions?
It still surprises me how Dr. Okupe can with
all
seriousness and honour say the Federal
government is
winning the war on terror? But if he insists,
his
statement is correct and Shettima’s wrong,
then I ask
of two things from him:
(1) To make public the indices he is using to
measure
performance so we can also do our little
beer parlour/
okada group assessment,
(2) He should go on a one month sabbatical
with his
family to Borno, Adamawa or Yobe. If after
the one
month sabbatical he does not cry out like
Gov
Shettima, then I’ll use his own very words,
“call me a
bastard”.

WORLD’S MOST WANTED DRUG TRAFFICKER & FORBES BILLIONAIRE FINALLY CAPTURED WITH A WOMAN AFTER 12 YEARS

He has been on the run for more than 12
years but a
moment of passion appears to have been
the downfall
for the world’s most wanted drug lord.
Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman, described as the
most
powerful drug trafficker in the world, was
arrested
in a beach condominium on Saturday with
help
from U.S. agencies in a major victory for the
government in a long, grisly war.
Guzman, known as “El Chapo” (Shorty) in
Spanish, has long run Mexico’s infamous
Sinaloa
Cartel and over the past decade he emerged
as one
of the world’s most powerful organized
crime
bosses, even making it onto Forbes’ list of
billionaires and listed as one of the world’s
richest
men..
When Mexican marines burst into the
apartment he
was staying in at 6.40am the discovered
Guzman
with an unidentified woman.Guzman, also
known as
Shorty, was photographed being escorted by
troops
through Mexico City airport later in the day.
.
No shots were fired as troops burst in on the
56-year-
old drug lord in Mazatlan, and he was
arrested along
with three men believed to be his
bodyguards.A team
of 25 marines entered the complex on
Saturday
morning, overpowering two security teams
installed
to protect the drug kingpin.
Guzman faces drug trafficking and other
charges, and
is wanted in at least six U.S. districts, as
well as
Mexico.
Despite being wanted in two countries,
Guzman had
evaded capture for more than 12 years, but
in the end
his complacency led to his downfall, a
former DEA
official said.
The suspected drug lord is believed to lead
a cartel
with revenues estimated at more than $3
billion a
year, and he has been ranked as one of the
riches men
in the world by Forbes for several years.
‘He got tired of living up in the mountains
and not
being able to enjoy the comforts of his
wealth,’
His cartel has been heavily involved in the
bloody
drug war that has torn through parts of
Mexico for
the last several years
He is the suspected head of the deadly
Sinoa cartel,
believed to be responsible for moving a
quarter of the
drugs that enter the U.S. from Mexico. The
plot to
catch Guzman, who notoriously escaped from
a
maximum security prison in the back of a
laundry
truck in 2011, had taken weeks to plan. He
had been
serving a 20-year sentence for bribery and
criminal
association

Despite being a billionaire, Guzman was
found in a
relatively basic apartment. Photos of the
condominium taken after the raid, show bed
sheets
ripped off a mattress, yellowing kitchen
cabinets and
uninviting tiled floors.
In the kitchen, what appears to be a
pancake can be
seen left in a frying pan, and a pile of fruit
and
vegetables has been left in a cheap plastic
container.
Guzman’s cartel has smuggled billions of
dollars
worth of cocaine, marijuana and
methamphetamines
into the United States, and fought vicious
turf wars
with other Mexican gangs.
He pioneered the use of sophisticated
underground
tunnels to smuggle drug shipments across
the border
and also became a major narcotics exporter
to
Europe and Asia in recent years.
Nearly 80,000 people have been killed in the
last
seven years with much of the violence in
western and
northern regions that have long been key
smuggling
routes.
Many of the victims are tortured and
beheaded and
their bodies dumped in a public place or in
mass
graves. The violence has ravaged border
cities and
even beach resorts such as Acapulco.

COURT RESTRAIN SSS, police and other from arresting Sanusi Lamido Sanusi

A Federal High Court in Lagos Friday issued
a
restraining order on the Attorney-General of
the
Federation, Inspector-General of Police and
State
Security Service, their privies or any other
law
enforcement agencies of the Federal
Government
“from infringing on the rights” of the
suspended
Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),
Mallam
SanusiLamido Sanusi.

The CBN governor, who has been having a
running
battle with President Goodluck Jonathan over
his
allegation on the non-remittance of oil
revenue to the
Federation Account by the Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was
suspended by
the president Thursday.

The government had alleged non-compliance
with the
Public Procurement Act by the apex bank and
the
misstatement of the central bank’s 2012
financial
accounts, which were stated as reasons for
his
suspension.
In a motion exparte dated February 21,
2014, the
court ordered the respondents not to
interfere or
impose any restriction on the enjoyment of
Sanusi’s
right to personal liberty and freedom
pending the
hearing and determination of the Motion on
Notice.

While adjourning the hearing of the Motion
on
Notice till Friday, Feburuary 28, the court
also
granted Sanusi leave to serve the
Originating
Summons and other accompanying court
processes
on the respondents in Abuja.

Sanusi had dragged the
Attorney-General of the
Federation, Inspector-General of Police and
State
Security Service to the Federal High Court,
praying,
amongst others, to give an order restraining
the
respondents from violating his rights.

Facebook to acquire whatspp at $16 billion

Facebook has entered into an agreement to
acquire WhatsApp, the popular messaging
app, for $16 billion in cash and stock,
according to a filing Wednesday.

The deal is by far Facebook’s largest
acquisition to
date and comes after rumors in late 2012
and early
2013 that Facebook and Google were vying
to buy the
messaging service.

“WhatsApp is on a path to connect 1 billion
people.
The services that reach that milestone are
all
incredibly valuable,” Mark Zuckerberg,
Facebook’s
cofounder and CEO, said in a statement.
“I’ve known
Jan [Koum, WhatsApp cofounder] for a long
time
andI’m excited to partner with him and his
team to
make the world more open and connected.”
WhatsApp is the most popular of a set of
mobile
messaging apps that some argued posed a
threat to
Facebook’s business. The app lets users send
messages for free across smartphone
platforms and
had proved particularly popular abroad and
in
emerging markets.

According to the filing, Facebook has agreed
to pay $
12 billion in stock and $4 billion in cash for
the
company. Facebook has also agreed to pay
an
additional $3 billion in restricted stock units
to
WhatsApp’s founders and employees as part
of the
deal, which would bring the total deal price
to about
$19 billion.
If the deal doesn’t go through, Facebook will
pay a
breakup fee of $1 billion to WhatsApp,
which is still
more than the total amount Facebook ended
up
paying to acquire Instagram.
Facebook stock declined by more than 4.5%
in after
hours trading following the announcement.

WhatsApp was founded by Koum and Brian
Acton,
two former Yahoo employees, in 2009.
There are
currently more than 450 million people who
use the
service each month, a larger user base than
social
networks like Twitter or LinkedIn.
Facebook has long been rumored to be
looking to
make a big acquisition in the messaging
space,
including a report that it offered to buy
Snapchat for
as much as $3 billion.

Koum, the cofounder and CEO, had
repeatedly denied
that the company was looking to be
acquired. Then
again, it’s not everyday you get offered $16
billion. As
part of the deal, he will join Facebook’s
board of
directors.

WhatsApp will continue to operate
independently,
presumably int he same way as Instagram.

We me think WhatsApp is worth more than $16 billion?

Boko haram Dares Cameroon

The Nigerian Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has
threatened to strike in Cameroon if it
continues to
meddle in its conflict with the Abuja
Government.

The warning is contained in a strongly
worded letter
reportedly written in Arabic by frontliners of
the
Islamic sect.
According to the French language weekly,Le
Septentrion, that covers the three Northern
Regions,
the letter states that Boko Haram does not
have any
problem with the Cameroon Government, but
would
be forced to strike if it continues to detain
their
members.

The threats came in the wake of
allegations that elements of the sect
were entering Cameroon at will because of
the porous
border between Cameroon and Nigeria in
the
Northern Regions. That is why it was easy
for
elements of the sect to kidnap French
nationals in the
Far
North Region last year at very short
intervals.

In a reaction to the press, the Lamido cum
Mayor of
Banyo in the Adamawa Region, Mohaman
Gabdo
Yaya, said the threats from Boko Haram are
real. He
remarked that the Northern border line
Cameroon
shares with Nigeria is very porous. To him,
the
situation is even more complicated because
there are
tribes in Cameroon that extend across the
borders to
Nigeria.

He said it was time for religious leaders in
the
Northern Regions to mobilise and ward off
the
infiltration
of Boko Haram within the local
communities in the area.
The Lamido took exception
to the Boko Haram philosophy, saying what
they are
doing has nothing to do with Islam. He took
exception to claims that Islam is a religion
of
intolerance, violence and extremism.

Nowhere in the
Koran, he went on, is it stated that force be
used to
convert people into Islam.
Meanwhile, a source that spoke to The Post
on
condition of anonymity from Mokolo in the
Far
North, said there are many Boko Haram
elements in
the Region. “When they are chased away by
the
Nigerian police they run across the borders
to live
with their relatives in Cameroon. And it is
usually
very difficult for their relatives to expose
them to the
administration,” he stated.

In an exclusive interview with The Post
recently, Far
North Governor, Augustine Fonka Awah,
admitted it
will be an uphill task identifying Boko Haram
elements in the Region because the people
don’t wear
any uniform and they do not have any
identification
marks. He appealed to the local communities
to
remain vigilant and report any suspicious
individuals to the administration.
The Governor said the fight against the
infiltrations
of Boko Haram depends very much on the
collaboration and good faith of the local
population.

Meanwhile, many Boko Haram suspects are
said to
have been caught in the dragnet of the
security
around the borders in the Far North. The
Post learnt
that many of such elements were arrested in
Maroua
and Amchide border area in the Mayo Sava
Division
of the Far North.

Boko Haram that has wrecked havoc in
neighbouring
Nigeria is fighting for the imposition of
Islam in the
country. They have been spreading the
fallacy that
Western education is bad in all aspects.
There are
disturbing reports that the sect is gradually
making
Cameroon their refuge and hub centre

Samsung galaXy s5 might be a waterproof. 02 Germany tease

The first carrier to begin teasing the
Samsung
Galaxy S5 is Germany’s O2. The operator
put up a
page showing the Galaxy S5 submerged in
water,
suggesting the device will be water
resistant.

Visiting this address lets users sign up for a
Samsung device that “can do more”. Under a
headline that translates to “Anticipation
high 5” we
see the vague outline of the device
surrounded in
bubbles. The Galaxy S5 is not mentioned
anywhere,
but the URL of the page and filenames of
images
from the page both include it, leaving no
doubt that
O2 is teasing Samsung’s next flagship here.

The text in the red dot says the device
would launch
at the end of February, though that’s no
surprise,
given that l Samsung has scheduled an
Unpacked event during MWC on the 24th of
this
month , ten days for now.
We’ve heard several distinct rumors that at
least
one version of the upcoming Galaxy S5
would
feature water resistance . It’s even possible
that
Samsung will ruggedize the mainstream
version, inspired by the success of Sony’s
line of
waterproof phones.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has called Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger a “specialist in failure”

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has called
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger a
“specialist in failure”.

The Portuguese’s claim is the latest in a war
of words between the two, whose respective
sides are challenging for the Premier League
title this season.

Earlier on Friday, Wenger declared that the
league was Chelsea’s to lose, adding that
Mourinho’s claim that the Blues are
outsiders represents a fear of failure.

At a press conference later in the day,
Mourinho – who won five major trophies
during his first spell as Chelsea boss,
including the Premier League twice, between
2004 and 2007 – drew attention to Arsenal’s
current eight-year spell without a major
trophy, saying: “He is a specialist in failure,
I am not.

“If he is right and I have a fear of failure it
is because I don’t fail many times. So maybe
he is right?
“The reality is he’s a specialist because eight
years without a piece of silverware, that is
failure. If I did that in Chelsea I would leave
London and not come back.”

When asked about Wenger’s claim that
Chelsea are favourites for the title,
Mourinho replied: “The champions are
Manchester United. They are the title-owner
until the moment where mathematically they
lose it.

“If they are not champions this season, and
we all agree it is almost impossible for them
to be, they lose the title, nobody else.”
League leaders Chelsea hold a one-point
advantage over second-placed Arsenal in the
race for the title.

Manchester City are also in the running, two
points worse off than the Gunners in third
but having played a game less, with
Liverpool fourth a point behind Manuel
Pellegrini’s side.

At his own press conference ahead of
Arsenal’s FA Cup fifth-round tie with
Liverpool this weekend, Wenger was asked
why, apart from himself and Pellegrini, every
other manager is ruling out title success.

The Frenchman responded: “It’s a fear to
fail.
“If you’re not in the race you cannot lose it,
if you declare yourself not in the race you
cannot lose it, simple as that.
“I think just that our job is to be ambitious
and to try to win, if we do not win to take
full responsibility for that. That’s as simple
as that and that’s how I see it.

“I say yes we are in it, yes we will have a go
for it, we will absolutely give everything to
go for it and if we don’t do it I will take
responsibility for it, but I just see it like
that.”

Chelsea are also in FA Cup action this
weekend when they face Manchester City on
Saturday.
At the start of this month, Mourinho’s side
produced a superb tactical display to win 1-0
at the Etihad in the league and the
Portuguese says his side will be playing for
another win at the weekend.

“There are not two games the same,” he
added. “Is the approach the same, in the

Is Justin Beiber a Gay? Caught kissing a guy

It’s no doubt that Bieber has been called
many things
– immature, ireesposible and deviant – but
being gay
might not become one of them. However,
that
changed when a photograph of the alleged
pop star
kissing another man surfaced online . The
photo has
stired up any more controversy and here is
the truth..

The picture in question shows one man
planting a
deep kiss on the lips of a guy who looks like
Justin,
with his signature shaved haircut, tank top,
and
backwards snapback hat. But first things
first — the
guy on the right is actually just a look-alike,
a man
named Rob Miller who bears a striking
resemblance
to the “Baby” singer.

Rob posted the picture of he and his
boyfriend kissing
all the way back in August but its just
recently that
the media is taking the picture to another
level.
So, this is obviously not photoshopped its
just certain
that its not Justin! Now we can all take a
deep breath
but how many of you actually thought it was
the
troubled singer? Be honest!

5,000 Goons trained in Lagos against 2015 general election

It has been revealed that at least 5,000
youths
are currently being trained in Lagos State,
southwest Nigeria as political thugs in
preparation for the 2015 general elections.

Investigation revealed that the youths were
being
recruited and trained under the name of
FERMA
Federal Task Force at the Old Tollgate near
7Up
Bottling Company, the former yard of the
Federal
Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA.

It was gathered that as some have started
training,
more youths were still rushing to the place
enmasse
to get recruited because of the employment
conditions.
It was learnt that the youths were not
interviewed
and were promised to be paid under the
federal
government salary scale according to their
qualifications.

The emergence of the illegal taskforce is
creating
panic among stakeholders in the state as
there are
fears that the youths were being trained by
the
leading opposition party to destabilise Lagos
and
other southwest states during next year’s
general
elections. More worrisome is the fact that
the
taskforce is not backed by any law or act
setting it up.
Sources said the youths will undergo
intensive
training somewhere in Badagry and they will
then be
drafted to all southwest states under the
guise of
maintaining and protecting Federal
Government
roads.

There are allegations that the youths will be
used to
create mayhem in the zone to enable the
PDP win all
the southwest states during the forthcoming
elections.
A lady that has been recruited told
P.M.NEWS in
confidence that they were told that over
5,000 youths
will be drafted to the southwest zone for the
2015
general elections. She said they were told
that after
the recruitment exercise, they would be
taken to
Badagry for intensive training.
A top PDP chieftain in the southwest zone
was
alleged to be involved in the recruitment and
training
of the youths.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the first aim of the
taskforce is to drive officials of the Lagos
State Traffic
Management, LASTMA, out of the federal
roads in
Lagos and take over activities of the traffic
officers.
The new taskforce would be playing the
same role
with the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC.

While
FRSC is backed by law, the group will not be
backed
by any federal law or be affiliated to any
agency of
government.
FERMA, however, disowned the illegal
taskfoce,
saying it has no hand in any group operating
under
the name of FERMA Federal Task Force and
carrying
out recruitment and paramilitary training for
youths
in Lagos.

NIGERIAN OLYMPIC ATHLETE, AMBROSE, SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR KILLING MARRIED WOMAN

I find it hard to understand how a someone
will comfortably KILL a fellow human being.
It's crazy!

Former Nigerian Olympian, Ambrose Monye
(left), was on Wednesday been sentenced to
life in prison by a South Africa court for the
murder of a 26yrs old woman, Channelle
Henning (middle).

Ambrose, who took part in Souelle Olympic
in 1988, was said to have killed Channelle as
she drove out after dropping her young son
at a Montessori Preschool in East Pretoria
South Africa on November 8th, 2011.

Ambrose Monye and his accomplice, Mr
Andre Gouws, who was also sentenced to
life in prison, were said to have collected a
huge sum of money as reward to kill the
innocent woman...

Sadly, they were contracted to kill her by
Channelle Henning's estranged husband, Mr
Nick (pictured right).

After denying their involvement in the
shooting and killing of Channelle for almost
two years, Ambrose and his accomplice
finally confessed on Wednesday that they
were indeed involved in the dastardly act.

According to Andre's confession in court on
Wednesday morning, Channelle and her
husband, Nick have been on a custody battle
for their young son for a while. Nick then
decided the best way to have custody of
their son was to permanently get rid of his
wife.

He contacted Andre Gouws to help carry out
the murder with a reward of one million rand
if successfully done. Andre then contacted
Ambrose to help facilitate the killing with a
promise to pay him 50,000rand.

Ambrose then contracted two men - Doepie
and Pike - who carried out the murder. Both
guys are already in prison, serving 18-year
jail terms each, after they pleaded guilty to
the murder charge and exposed those who
paid them for the job.

Nigeria's Ambrose Monye was described by
the investigative team as the kingpin of
Pretoria's underworld. He has a history of
being involved in murder cases. In 2011, he
was arrested and later released in South
Africa for allegedly beating a man to death.

Officially, Ambrose runs a "security"
company in South Africa.
